๐ŸŒŸart by @shelikestodrawl๐ŸŒŸ . Hi this is your daily reminder to buy stamps and send letters! We all need to support the USPS. Recently, #BuyStamps and #SaveTheUSPS started trending because the United States Postal Service may run out of funding by as early as next year. USPS needs proper funding because it is absolutely essential to mail-in voting Trump appointed Postmaster General Louis DeJoy--a trump donor and former logistics executive--who, shortly imposed a series of cost cutting measures and rules that has significantly slowed down service. He banned overtime pay and extra delivery trips, and even ordered mail carriers to leave letters/packages behind in distribution centers until the next day if they couldnโ€™t fit on the truck. He justified this โ€˜operational pivotโ€™ to cut costs but this is exactly the type of change that someone would make if you want to undermine our faith in an agency to privatize it. Recently, The USPS reached an agreement with the Treasury on a ten billion dollar CARES Act lending authority. However, Congress must first give the Postal Service the money and then tell the agency very specifically how to use it--which could possibly run out the clock until the election. In short: we need to save the USPS. Here are some simple steps to help: 1. Buy stamps and send letters. 2. Call and pressure your senators/representatives to force the funding it provides to the USPS to be immediately available to them by requiring the Office of Management and Budget to move these funds ASAP! 3. If you plan to mail your ballot, due so at least 15 days before Election Day (October 20, 2020) So, please vote, buy stamps, and send letters. Peace out from California! xoxo, Jazzy . ๐ŸŒŸuse #feministjazzy and tag @feminist.jazzy to give us permission to share your work!
