plastic packaging now surpasses cigarette butts as the most common trash found on beaches around the world. the @oceanconservancy’s annual #coastal cleanup collected over 20 million pounds of garbage in 2019. this included 4.7 million wrappers, 1.8 million plastic bottles, and 1.5 million plastic bottle caps. the cleanup only scratched the surface. #plastic is a crisis and the only path forward is a world without it.⁠ ⁠ learn more about @cove‘s biodegradable alternative, PHA, at the link in our bio.⁠

Popping this reminder in here for all my fellow white folx 😘 Remember as you go through your week:⠀ ⠀ 👉🏻 It’s a privilege to learn about racism instead of experiencing it.⠀ ⠀ 👉🏻 It’s a privilege to lose interest in dismantling racism and advocating for Black lives.⠀ ⠀ 👉🏻 It’s absolutely a privilege to be able to choose the comfort of “returning to normal” over the discomfort of facing how white privilege (and all your other privileges) play into your life and doing something about it. ⠀ ⠀ It’s easy to lose interest (hello, comfort zone 👋🏻) but we can’t keep this up anymore. Not sure what to do or where to go from here? Try taking a class! I really enjoy everything from @thegreatunlearn, but also have my eyes on programs from @moemotivate and @iamrachelricketts 👀
