The Netflix Korean drama Business Proposal is lighthearted rom-com based on the webtoon The Office Blind Date written by HaeHwa and illustrated by Narak. The story revolves around young professionals who seamlessly find love without trying to look for it. Shin Ha-Ri (Kim Se-Jeong) is a single woman who agrees to replace her best friend Jin Young-seo (Seol In-ah) on an arranged blind date that was set up by Jin Young-seo’s wealthy father. Naturally the blind date is with a very handsome, wealthy and successful businessman Kang Tae-moo (Ahn Hyo-seop), the CEO of Go Food, the same company that Shin Ha-ri works at, so technically she goes on a blind date with her boss.

Initially the plan between the two friends was to have Ha-ri rejected by Kang Tae-moo (who doesn’t actually realize that Ha-ri works at Go Foods) allowing the blind date to be a total failure, a relief for Young-seo. There are a few charming mishaps along the way as Ha-ri and Tae-moo continue to go on dates, but all the while she must hide her work identity from him. Young-seo struggles to find her own independence from her father who claims that she wouldn’t be able to survive without his financial assistance. Aiming to prove him wrong, Young-seo moves into her own apartment and with the atypical happenstance of falling for her next door neighbor, Cha Sung-Hoon (Kim Min-Kyu) who just happens to be the assistant slash right hand man of Tae-Moo.

Without diving into plot spoilers, Business Proposal offers a fun, easy to follow along rom-com storyline that’s not corny, but with like any k-drama there is always big things to overcome.

The style of the two female lead characters Ha-ri and Young-seo stayed true throughout the series, which included well-tailored blazers, overcoats and knits. The wardrobe choices made sense as both characters are devoted heavily into their careers, while simultaneously figuring out their love dilemmas.
