Why It's Funner to Believe in the Paranormal and UFO Sightings

For most of us it all started in our childhood. The darkness of your room at night (even with a night light) wasn’t suffice enough for you to believe that there is no monster hiding under your bed. To talk you out of absurdity, your parent fed you the rule that monsters aren’t real. It was that simple. The thing that frightened you was imaginary, all in your head. Instead of trying to figure out why, it was just easier and faster to confirm that monsters in fact do not exist. That was that.

Then you grew up and as an adult still don’t believe that monsters are real. Furthermore, having that sinking feeling in your gut telling you that uh-oh something this way cometh … is only your imagination. Well, that’s no fun. And actually, makes no sense.

GHOSTS + PARANORMAL

I am quite biased on this topic since I’ve lived and experienced a good amount of paranormal throughout my life as early as age seven. Now through adulthood, being an empath brings in a lot of feelings, unexplained vibes and a fair share of questionable and unexplained ghostly occurrences. Growing up I was never aware of any monsters living under my bed, rather I knew there were times when I wasn’t alone. Was I scared? Naturally. However, I’m getting older and wiser to understand what comes with being an empath.

Now to generalize the belief in ghosts and paranormal activities is simply to know that when something in your gut tells you something, you should listen and observe. I don’t know much about the spirit world only because I don’t live there. Also I myself have never died to experience it and then come back to this world to report on it. Has anyone thus far?

I can only assume that the spirit world, wherever it is, is truly complicated with rules and perhaps no answers, kind of like this current world we reside in.

Why it’s funner to believe: So, you’re at a party and in a group conversation with some cool people. The topic of hauntings arises and someone tells a story of her grandmother who passed away and then days later she had a spiritual visit. Trust me, everyone is intrigued at this story, because if it was a show on Netflix we would watch it. Then, there’s always that one person who feels the need to proclaim “I don’t believe in ghosts.” Apparently, this person is in dire need of a trophy. Congratulations to that person who has now become the most boring neutral shade of the group.

If you’ve had or know someone who’s had a ghost visit or spirit interaction and are willing to share the experience, you are already an amazing storyteller. Ghost stories are the best and funnest to listen to.

ALIENS + OTHER LIFE FORMS IN THE SOLAR SYSTEM

Over many, many years, alien and UFO sightings are super high on emotional, physical and visual trickery. Of all the things not to believe in, it probably wins the WTF award. Iconic television series like X-Files have exposed many a tales that perhaps are loosely based on past human experiences. I can see how a wide variety of people believe in supernatural beings. Also, I can understand the confusion and bewildering doubt that falls upon the supposed occurrences. I think because deep down inside all of us, the thought of it is more terrifying than ghosts.

Once at a dinner I was seated next to this person who regaled us with a story of how he was driving down a road at night and something happened to him. He stopped his car, but left the headlights on for safety. However, there was a blinding light that was indeed almost blinding him. What seemed to be in front of him was visually unexplainable (in his words), but massive, whatever it was. Then he heard a faint whisper that felt like it was coming from just outside his car window. He couldn’t make out words, but all of a sudden the lights began to fade away and whatever that was in front of his car was gone. Back to darkness and confused as hell, he drove off with the sinking feeling (that he could still feel just telling the story) that it felt like some kind of visit.

On another occasion when the topic of UFO’s presented itself, an acquaintance said that she didn’t believe in “that stuff” and that UFO’s do not exist. Whew…. I’m so glad that she was there to set that record straight. I asked her, “So you can honestly believe and perhaps back up with scientific facts that there are no other life forms in the entire galaxy?” She couldn’t or wouldn’t reply, but just excused herself from the conversation. Having that convo with her was not fun, rather it was annoying on my part, but you know what was fun? The guy’s UFO story, because it was his personal version of something from the unknown and that is what people like us, find intriguing.

Why it’s funner to believe: We are only humans. Within our existence and what past history proves is that we suck at being humans. If there are other life forms living on Mars, Neptune, Jupiter or Pluto, we are probably the worst of all life forms. So, the thought of say an alien from outer space landing down in front of us, takes a long, hard look at us, hears how we talk, breathe is pretty interesting. To them, we are the strange ones.

“We lie best when we lie to ourselves.” - Stephen King

I never want to be so arrogant to think there are no possibilities. I thoroughly enjoy every ghost story and am intrigued by all UFO tales. What one person experiences is the thing they take with them everyday. Who am I to ever conclude that it never happened or discount its realness? It is always funner to believe in the impossible. If anything it makes for good novel fodder.

Also, monsters are real. Just watch the news.
