Keeping Up With Your Skincare Routine During Quarantine

Don’t use the quarantine and social distancing as an excuse to forget about your skincare routine. When this pandemic is finally over, you’re going to want to look refreshed, well-rested and in top form.

Why your skincare routine is still important:

  • It gives your life some normalcy. The necessity of routine is invaluable. During these uncertain times, we need routine to keep our heads straight.

  • We are all stressed. And the first place it shows is on your face.

  • It’s self-nurturing, taking care of your outside appearance is important for how you feel on the inside. If you look good, you feel good.

  • Just because we are trapped inside, there are still indoor pollutants to worry about. The last thing you need to stress about right now are blemishes. More leisure time for naps means your cheeks and chin get the most exposure from what I call pillow pollutants.

  • And of course the face mask, which when worn during a long period of time and continuously over and over again, the fabric can irritate the skin.

Regardless if you have Zoom meetings or not, it’s important to begin the day with a clean, fresh slate. You can still maintain a good skincare regimen, even if it’s a mini version of your nighttime routine. In this new normal we live in, it’s important to prioritize our wellness inside and out, to help ward off the lazy, negative habits.

Billie - Wonder Wipes

BILLIE

WONDER WIPES $9

The first thing I like to do in the mornings is give my face a good wipe down. To save the usage on my cleansers and serums from the night before, I’ll use these Wonder Wipes that are plant based cloths that will not cause your face to breakout. These biodegradable cloths are infused with hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C serums. They come in a pack of 25, but if you’re paying for the Billie subscription (read our review), it’s absolutely worth it.

Korean sheet masks by Facetory

FARM SKIN SUPERFOOD

NOURISHING MASK WITH COCONUT $3.50

This Korean sheet mask has found a home in my winter stockpile, and now in my quarantine life. This really moisturizes the skin with the key ingredients being coconut water (nourishes and decreases inflammation) and Laminaria Japonica Extract (seaweed kelp that works as a natural moisturizer). And there’s so much creamy essence left over to last a few days. It’d be a smart move to purchase at least 6 at a time.

Biossance Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer

BIOSSANCE

SQUALANE + PROBIOTIC GEL MOISTURIZER $52

Yes, you should moisturize every single day whether you’re indoors or outdoors. Whether you’ve got the air-conditioner on or indoor heating, your face goes through a lot. All those emotions, stress wrinkles, the last thing you need is redness and puffiness. Squalane is the superfood for skin and it’s sustainable. And if you can have probiotics in your skincare, go for it 100%, it not only keeps wrinkles and redness away, but tightens up the skin.

Dermalogica Stress Positive Eye Lift

DERMALOGICA

STRESS POSITIVE EYE LIFT $69

This is the only eye cream that has ever worked for me. No matter what, I apply it morning and night. It is pricy for an eye cream, but having used it steadily through the years can honestly say that it does work. (Read our review) The cooling cream gel depuffs the eye and calms down visible signs of stress. Let’s face it, we’re all going through some form of stress right now, and where it normally shows first is around your eyes.

Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 40

SUPERGOOP

UNSEEN SUNSCREEN SPF 40 $34

An everyday sunscreen that blends in perfectly with skincare and makeup. And even though we’re in quarantine, I still have to walk my dog twice a day. I never leave the house without sunscreen. The star ingredient is red algae that protects against the sun’s blue light, which contributes to melasma and hyperpigmentation.
