Lookbook Luv: Gigi Burris SS18

Get a glimpse of Spring/Summer 2018 by Gigi Burris // DNAMAG

When investing in a good hat, you really want to make sure of its quality and craftsmanship. Such an accessory is not one to be thrown out as soon as the season passes. Some would say that a hat is forever. Milliner Gigi Burris gravitated towards millinery during her studies at Parsons Paris, while venturing into haberdashery shops. It was when she arrived back at Parsons in New York City, Burris furthered her passionate interest by studying under couture milliner Leah Chalfen. From there as a student she learned old world techniques to the craft and the production values of what goes into creating a beautiful hat. In the past few years, hats have made a whimsical return to fashion as high profile ladies like Lady Gaga and Rihanna have donned a Gigi Burris hat. Turns out hats aren't only for fancy ladies at the Derby anymore.

For Burris, texture and quality are as valuable as the design, she utilizes the finest materials sourced from around the world such as Switzerland, Japan and Italy. For the spring and summer 2018 collection, Burris became overly inspired by her honeymoon in Cuba. The hints of afternoons in Havana and the city's colorful architecture all play into the ss18 pieces. She also debuts a foray into handbags, with intricate details of straw braids imported from Switzerland.
