On the Lower East Side: Sandy Liang FW18
You can always count on Sandy Liang for good downtown scenery. On the streets of Manhattan's Lower East Side her friends and family were her models and muses for Fall-Winter 2018 collection. New York City IG girls Coco Baudelle, Paloma Elsesser, Madeline Poole, Raine Trainor, Kelly Mittendorf, Greta Lee as well as Danny Bowien of Mission Chinese Food all contributed their LES vibes. Family counterparts included the return of her paw paw (grandmother who is a crowd favorite), boyfriend and even her adorable and photogenic Australian Shepherd Tim Tam. The moods of her presentations are never over exaggerated, not even when it comes to her popular high-pile shearling coats in pastels from past seasons. For fall/winter, a shearling moto jacket (modeled by Danny Bowien) could be the hero piece. Besides her signature coats and jackets, Liang went into pretty girl details with floral dresses and structural play with fabrics and lace trims. Photographed by Kathy Lo and styled by Kate Foley, Liang proves that "downtown cool" is all about the people as much as it is the atmosphere and vibes. She is the one designer that keeps in the tradition of what it's really like to be below Houston.
