The Works of Tina Barney
Native New Yorker, Tina Barney began her photography career in the mid 1970’s capturing the intimate moments of domestic and private lives of the American and European elite. Her large scale color photographs chronicle the complexity of interpersonal relationships. It does feel like you’re being a fly on the wall in a room of the upper middle class. In later years she absorbed herself in worldly cultures such as a visit to China, then her curiosity also led to the lives of actors, models and performers. Tina Barney’s portraits do not necessarily storytell, but offer a voyeuristic curiosity.
