Creative 101: Top 5 Fashion Schools

Picking the right school is important, it's your foundation for  creative and critical thinking, where you'll make lifelong contacts and it prepares you for the real world. 5. PARSONS SCHOOL OF DESIGN New York City

Notable alumni: Tom Ford, Donna Karan, Alexander Wang (see Wang Squad above), Proenza Schouler, Steven Meisel, Marc Jacobs, Prabal Gurung, Derek Lam, Zac Posen, iconic artist Roy Lichtenstein and the list goes on. 

4. ROYAL ACADEMY OF ARTS ANTWERP Antwerp, Belgium

Notable alumni: Ever heard of Vincent Van Gogh? Also Kris Van Assche, Dries Van Noten and Martin Margiela (SS17 show photo above) 

3. AALTO UNIVERSITY, SCHOOL OF ARTS, DESIGN & ARCHITECTURE Helsinki, Finland

Notable alumni: Okay, so no fashion greats have come out of this prestigious university as of yet, but it's only a matter of time. Note the photo above, you most likely have sat in one of the  midcentury chairs (Nikke) made by designer and sculptor Tapio Wirkkala. 

2. KINGSTON UNIVERSITY London, UK

Notable alumni: Caryn Franklin, fashion commentator who was recently interviewed by Alexa Chung for British Vogue's documentary The Future of Fashion. She probably has some great stories of the stylish London in the 60's and the pioneer days of street style. Another well known alumnist is Harper's Bazaar Ed-in-Chief, Glenda Bailey.
