Assouline is Hiring a Freelance Marketing Art Director - 3 Months (NYC)

We are seek an experience and innovative Marketing Art Director to lead a dynamic team of designers and elevate our brand's visual storytelling across digital first, but also print platforms. This role combines creative leadership with hands-on design execution, focusing on driving brand consistency and delivering engaging content across all touchpoint. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of luxury, culture, and lifestyle trends, as well as the ability to inspire and mentor a team.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of experience in digital design/art direction, preferably within the luxury media industry. 

  • Strong understanding of luxury, culture, and lifestyle trends. 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. 

  • A robust portfolio demonstrating expertise in digital design, including web, mobile, social media, and digital advertising. 

  • Mastery of design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects), Sketch, Figma, or similar platforms. 

  • Proven experience in managing and optimizing design processes, including recourse allocation and timeline management.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead and mentor a team of 2 designers, providing guidance, feedback, and support to foster their professional growth. 

  • Develop and execute innovative visual concepts for marketing campaigns, including digital, print, and social media, that align with overall business objectives. 

  • Ensure cohesive, on-brand visual storytelling across all digital platforms, including B2C and B2B websites, Culture Lounge digital magazine and podcast, social media, digital ads, email, SMS campaigns, and the Amazon storefront. 

  • Collaborate with key stakeholders, including the Marketing Director, editorial team, and web design agency, to define and execute creative strategies that drive engagement and sales while ensuring a seamless and sophisticated UX/UI. 

  • Partner with the photo team to select, crop, and showcase impactful imagery, enhancing the visual appeal across all media. 

  • Review and approve design projects, providing constructive feedback to maintain high-quality standards and ensure timely delivery. 

  • Manage project timelines, resources, and performance metrics, making data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement. 

  • Stay updated on industry trends, emerging digital design practices, and innovative technologies, integrating them into our marketing efforts to keep the brand at the forefront of luxury digital media.
