Proenza Schouler is Hiring a Print Designer (NYC)
The Print Designer is responsible for developing and overseeing original artworks for 4 seasons per year, working with all divisions including Collection, White Label, and Accessories as directed by Design and Art Director.
About the company
Proenza Schouler is a New York based womenswear and accessories brand founded in 2002 by designers Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez. The duo met while studying at Parsons School of Design, eventually collaborating on their senior thesis which became their first collection as Proenza Schouler. Named after the designers’ mothers’ maiden names, the collection was bought in its entirety by Barneys New York.
REQUIREMENTS
5-7 years’ experience in relevant role.
High Level Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite: Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
Skilled in the creation of print repeats, color-ups and other CAD for apparel related tasks.
Strong sense of color and proportion.
Confident in hand drawing and painting for print design needs.
Excellent organizational skills.
Strong ability to manage time and execute at a high level both collaboratively and independently.
Creative, hardworking, positive and strong collaborator.
Enthusiastic about artwork and garment design.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design, propose, render, and create original artwork and repeat designs using both digital and hand mediums to demonstrate concepts.
Collaborate with design on seasonal color palettes. Management of color palette, digital and fabric matching and lab dips.
Create color-ups for original sketches using jacquards, prints and embroideries.
Communicate directly with suppliers about jacquard, print, and embroidery artworks and color.
Responsible for sending clear communications about all artwork and color launches each season.
Manage follow up with suppliers for all artwork developments including prints and jacquards. This includes sending color comments, print comments, weave and finishing comments as needed and in collaboration with Fabric and Development team.
Work closely with Fabric and Development teams to execute the print or jacquard to the proper specifications and needs of the team.
Create print placements to scale using Illustrator and/or Photoshop for seasonal artworks and patterns. Will be responsible for collaborating with Production team to hand off files, improve yields and have final sign off on production artworks.
Manage print and color archive on a daily and seasonal basis.
Maintain calendar and deadlines as laid out in conjunction with Design, Fabric and Development teams to achieve all deliverables.
Hire and Manage print intern when needed.
The targeted base salary range for this role is $60,000-$80,000. Actual salary offered may be above or below this range based on factors such as, relevant skills, qualifications, and experience. This role is also eligible for additional benefits including an annual performance-based incentive program and a seasonal clothing allowance.
