Stasher is Hiring a Senior Graphic Designer (Emeryville, CA)
At Stasher, we believe that small changes have the power to make a big impact. What started as an endlessly reusable, food-grade silicone storage bag has exploded into a global mission. So far, our community has prevented over a billion single-use plastic bags from entering our oceans and landfills. Join us to reach our next milestone! When people thrive, Stasher thrives (and our planet wins, too)
At Stasher, we are committed to leaving the planet better than we found it. We have a fundamental belief that the well-being of people and the environment go hand-in-hand, and it will take a team of all backgrounds to make our business and our planet a better place to be.
To this end, Stasher is committed to five priorities:
Diverse hiring practices
Ensuring diversity among our leaders
Pay equity
Creating and reinforcing voice equity
An approach to community engagement that embodies diversity, equity, and inclusion
We’re looking for a creative, passionate designer who loves everything from brainstorming big ideas to kerning copy on packaging. You’ll be responsible for designing assets to represent Stasher in the retail space. This includes packaging and displays as well as other printed collateral. Organizational skills are also key since you’ll manage your own project workflow and work cross functionally on timelines and product prioritization. This person will additionally help conceptualize campaigns and support the Creative Director as we continually push to advance and evolve our creative across all channels.
The Senior Graphic Designer reports to the Creative Director — and works closely with the rest of the Marketing team as well as Sales and Operations teams.
REQUIREMENTS
6+ years of design experience.
Advanced knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (specifically Illustrator, InDesign, and Photoshop).
Strong portfolio that includes brand development and packaging.
Solid understanding of design principles, composition, and typography.
Ability to multitask and prioritize projects while maintaining attention to details.
Experience working with and sourcing vendors on estimates, prototypes, providing final mechanicals of designs, and proofing prints from the printer.
Experience with print production, including reviewing proofs with a critical eye.
Experience creating both digital and physical comps/mock-ups.
Ability to collaborate with other designers and other departments.
Ability to present work either one on one with the Creative Director or to groups on different teams.
A bonus, but not essential, are illustration skills.
REQUIREMENTS
Contribute as a member of the Creative team
Be a steward for the brand, assuring that all assets created are on brand and follow the Stasher aesthetic.
Assist the Creative Director as a creative mentor to the more junior members of the team, potentially assisting with reviewing designs when her workload is full.
Help other team members when their workloads are full (both print and digital).
Connect with contractors to schedule their time, deliver assets to them, and guide them through projects.
Assist in keeping the design library organized and up to date.
Create and maintain retail creative needs
Design, from concept to completion, all Stasher packaging needs including individual products, bundles, trays, and freestanding displays. This includes working with our Operations team to execute and proof packaging before it goes to press.
Design, from concept to completion, additional retail needs such as signage and freestanding displays — and help push for more retail presence by partnering with the Sales team ahead of seasonal retail needs.
Partner with the Product Manager and Sales Ops to monitor creative needs and production timelines.
Work with contractors to help with the production of designs when extensive.
Present designs to the Marketing and Sales teams with thorough and well-developed recommendations based on experience in retail design and knowledge of Stasher’s objectives. Presentations should acknowledge our business goals while asserting and maintaining the visual voice of the brand.
Work with vendors when ideating new projects to acquire samples, quotes, and ultimately execute the projects.
Stay up to date with industry developments, trends, and materials — especially as they intersect with our mission and eco-minded retail habits.
