Dear Lizzo,

Your bad ass milkshake brought all the girls to the yard. You got ready with me in the AM’s and set my vibes straight by the PM’s. Every song, every beat, every lyric was a life lesson. Your spirit redefined a new era, a progressive movement proving that big is beautiful. Big girl energy, big and whole hearted, and the bigger the dreams the better. ‘Juice’ has become my official crazy dance party song for 1 (well 2, if you count my little fur baby who sits on my bed watching me. I catch his head nodding to the beat).

You came in at the exact right year for myself and all of us. This was the year we needed a bandleader to take us through the fields of fuck up’s, break-up’s, breakouts and other major hysterias. Can I call you the Aretha Franklin that our generation needs? Or do you prefer warrior? Well, you’re both and so much more than one or two labels. Just know that your soulful beat anthems is the chicken soup for our souls.
