LVMH Prize Winner: Marine Serre
LVMH Prize 2017 Winner is Marine Serre, a young designer based in Paris. A recent graduate with Highest Honors from La Cambre Mode(s) Belgian Fashion Design Academy, she has worked with Maison Martin Margiela and for Christian Dior.
Her collection, Radical Call for Love, combines 19th century Arab luxurious garments (caftan, karakou, sirwal, etc.) with corporate sportswear trends of the 1990s and 2000s, and projects the result in a futurist oriented fashion. Hence Radical Call for Love is all about expressing and working with actually existing links, in Brussels where the Call was conceived, and in the world at large. (via LVMH)
Launched in November 2013, what the LVMH Prize allows the designer is support in all areas crucial to founding and managing a small business (intellectual property, sourcing, production, distribution, advertising and marketing). LVMH winner receives a grant of 300,000 euros and a personalized technical and financial support from the LVMH Group for a 12-month period. The Group includes some of the fashion industry's most prestigious designers; J.W Anderson, Nicolas Ghesquiere, Marc Jacobs, Karl Lagerfeld, Phoebe Philo, Riccardo Tisci, Humberto Leon and Carol Lim. What's even better than actually winning the prize is having Rihanna present it to you. 🏆
