Aimé Leon Dore is Hiring a Designer - Cut/Sew Knits (NYC)

Aimé Leon Dore is looking for a Cut & Sew Knitwear Designer to join our team in New York, New York, reporting directly to the SVP of Design. This position will be responsible for conceptualizing, creating, and developing all Cut & Sew knits for mainline and collaborations.

Salary Range: $80,000 - $85,000

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5 years of relevant experience as a design assistant and/or internships in the fashion industry, specifically in knitwear design.

  • Strong understanding of full cycle of design development process from concept to commercialization

  • Experience in knitwear categories, fully fashioned is a plus.

  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Microsoft Office

  • Ability to thrive in a high-volume, rapidly changing environment, with the ability to multitask and prioritize effectively

  • Must be highly organized and possess a keen attention to detail, ensuring that all aspects of design meet the highest standards.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Spearhead the design of all Cut & Sew Knits, ensuring each piece aligns with brand aesthetic and vision.

  • Responsible for tech pack creation and maintenance.

  • Oversee the development and maintenance of line sheets for the knitwear categories, ensuring accuracy and consistency.

  • Provide innovative concept and research development for each season, identifying trends and translating them into compelling designs.

  • Participate in weekly design and product development meetings, and apparel team meetings to ensure strong communication and alignment on all ongoing development.

  • Attend all fittings, collaborate with Technical Designers to advise adjustment of garments to achieve desired fit, and ensure fit and aesthetic is on brand.

  • Work closely with the Graphic Design Team to integrate graphics into applicable styles, enhancing the overall design narrative.

  • Create and maintain detailed sketches.

  • Curate and select high-quality fabrics and yarns that align with design concepts and enhance the overall product offering.

  • Guide and mentor design assistants and interns, providing valuable feedback and support on relevant tasks to foster their professional growth.

  • Uphold design integrity and high-quality execution throughout the entire development process from concept through to market.
