Milk Makeup is Hiring a Social Copywriter (NYC)

Milk Makeup is looking for a Social Copywriter who is an exceptional writer, extremely online, and obsessed with finding creative ways to storytell about beauty on social media. This role will write copy across all social touchpoints and contribute to 360° brand storytelling ideas, including writing for TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, video scripts, paid media, among other touchpoints. The Social Copywriter will report into the Senior Editorial Manager and will collaborate closely with the Senior Manager of Social Media Strategy to optimize copy to meet marketing objectives, develop thumb-stopping hooks, as well as elevate storytelling and brand voice. You’ll need to be extremely creative, collaborative, and open to feedback. Exceptional writing, grammar, and proofreading skills are a must.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 3-5+ years of writing experience for beauty, fashion, or lifestyle brand or magazine/digital publication; on-camera experience is a plus

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience

  • Exceptional time management, communication, and adaptability skills

  • Self-motivated and highly organized with an attention to detail

  • Deep awareness of social culture, current events, and trends

  • Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Craft compelling, platform-specific copy that is on-brand + on-strategy in a timely manner to support all marketing, editorial, and business needs

  • You’re extremely online and tapped into the conversations happening across all the different platforms, not to mention you’re acutely aware of the differences among TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest and know exactly how to write for each of them

  • You’re deeply into beauty and follow all the trends, influencers, and brands pushing the conversation forward in the industry

  • You understand how copy plays with visuals and love working with content creators, designers, and art directors to hit that perfect mix of visual-verbal storytelling

  • Must be able to excel at various types of writing (witty, snappy, vibey, conversational, emotionally charged, educational, direct + salesy, etc) with a consistent brand voice

  • Pitch and execute ideas for TikTok, Reels, IG Stories, IG Feed, among others

  • Comfortable appearing on camera occasionally as a brand expert and beauty authority

  • Optimize copy based on feedback from Senior Editorial Director, Senior Editorial Manager, and marketing partners

  • Own and enforce our social style guide

  • Liaise with Legal and PD to ensure that copy meets all legal and regulatory requirements

  • Optimize copy for SEO and keywords

  • Proofread to ensure copy is spotless and error-free across all channels
