Need Supply is Hiring Design Asst (NYC)

The Design Assistant will serve a critical role in coordinating style development from conception to production hand-off. The Assistant will maintain and enhance Need Supply Co. and Totokaelo brand integrity, throughout the design/development process. This position will be responsible for communication cross-functionally as well as with local and international partners. In addition, this role will assist in monitoring sample room workflow as well as sample order tracking. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and organized with strong problem-solving skills.
REQUIREMENTS
1-2+ years’ experience in Design and Production
Experience in Adobe Illustrator
Quickly execute Garment CADS
Experience working in a sample room
Experienced in Excel, tech packs and technical communication in relationship to apparel development
Ability to manage quick timelines efficiently and independently
Strong communication skills
Works well under a high-pressure environment
Extremely detail oriented
RESPONSIBILITIES
Coordinate style development and production tasks by working closely with Development/Production Manager in order to maintain calendar adherence and sample workload prioritization
Work with Sr. Designer as needed to create flat sketches, DV sheets and inspiration research
Maintain all charts, reports, and factory calendars
Track fabric, lab dips, and trim orders
Follow-up on timely delivery / sample accuracy
Communicate daily with overseas offices and factories and update tech packs accordingly for all styles on order
Complete and update tech packs as necessary (BOMs) and forward to factory in a timely manner
Responsible for smooth sample handover to Production
Develop and maintain strong cross-functional relationships with design and production regarding changes, discrepancies, approvals, etc.
Responsible for detailed and accurate note-taking during fittings, photographing on fit model, and updating fit comments
Work with Design to hand-off concise and accurate style spec sheets
Communicate and find solutions to any potential production issues with external or internal partners (vendors and/or cross-functional teams)
