A big reminder that this is a movement, not a moment. ๐Ÿ‘Š โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € Wanting to return to "normal" is wanting to return to a world of white supremacy that WE (white/white-passing individuals) benefit from by ignoring. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € Even if your friends, family, and coworkers aren't talking about it anymore, the fight for equality is very much present and ongoing. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € It simply isn't enough to speak up and take action a few times, as working to actively dismantle 400 year old systems of oppression is a lifelong endeavor. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € Even though we are seeing real, positive change from the last month, it isn't NEARLY enough, and now more than ever is the time to put the foot on the gas pedal and use this momentum. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € This movement is anything but new, but it is becoming increasingly hard for white folx to continue to ignore. Keep putting in the work and the results may not be today, they may not be next month, but that doesn't make them any less worth fighting for. โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ €โ € (I've seen this quote quite a few places, but it appears to be adapted from the words of @taranajaneen in reference to the MeToo movement)
