The Benefits of Not Fitting In

We are taught in early adolescence that we are the company we keep. Then, sometime during our early adult years we learn that hanging out with the "in crowd" isn't what it always seems to be. Rather, the kind of company you keep may be hindering you from better opportunities. Not dressing, thinking, acting or talking like everyone else definitely has its benefits.

YOU INSPIRE OTHERS

When you do you, it not only shows confidence and grace under any pressure, but your integrity can motivate others to just be themselves. Be proud that you are different and unique. It's not fun being lost in the crowd.

REAL PEOPLE REAL FRIENDSHIPS

There's that saying that rings ultimately true these days that if you don't stand for something, you stand for nothing. And it does take a village to change things. I have always set a rule of thumb ideal when it comes to friendships by asking myself, "if I were on a sinking ship, who do I want with me?" Don't bank on the in crowd to be the right set of people who can guide you to do things that matter. Finding other people who share your similar "out of the box" ideas and outwardly act on compassion.

CREATIVE GENIUS MUCH?

You probably see things differently for a reasons. Reasons that which the average person can't contemplate, because it's either not something they're passionate about or it's just not in their natural creative dna. When you're creative, you're innovating something new, fresh and most likely important. The world is in constant need of originality.

Consider yourself very lucky to be different from everyone else.
