French Girl Street Style

If you search "french girl style" on the Internet, a terrifyingly long list of "how to" articles pops up. There really is no denying the intrigue people have over French insouciance. Looking at style icons like Jane Birkin, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Brigitte Bardot, Caroline de Maigret, and Jeanne Damas (the list could go on), the ease and effortlessness with which they can put together an outfit is visible. What I love most about French style is how simple it can be without looking basic. There's always a wink, something downplayed but still there.

I don't really like rules in fashion, so instead of sifting through articles saying what and what not to wear to get "French girl style", I prefer looking at street style photos and incorporating the bits that inspire me into my own style.
