Kotn is Hiring a Creative Director (Toronto, Canada)

Reporting to the Chief Brand Officer, the Creative Director will lead the Creative Team as a big-picture visionary tying together a project, from photography and video production, graphic design, copywriting, and beyond, to bring campaigns and creative initiatives to life. This role ensures that the key messages of content and campaigns are communicated throughout the Kotn brand lens to our customers and community.
The Creative Director role functions as a leader, mentor, strategic thinker and storyteller who can lead the creative Team on turning ideas into compelling visual narratives.
REQUIREMENTS
7+ years experience in creative leadership roles, ideally in the retail sector
Recognized expertise in creative campaign development and execution, art direction, and brand storytelling
Expertise in communicating product features through visuals and copy
Strong communication skills and ability to work cross functionally with other division leaders in the organization
Strong people management skills and ability to guide team members in developing autonomy, mastery and purpose in their roles
Strong ability to prioritize work and resources across engagements based on short- and long-term needs. Timelines, budgets, availabilities change; ability to be nimble and flexible
A deep understanding of the Kotn customer and key target demographic
Extensive cross-platform experience
RESPONSIBILITIES
Act as the primary thought partner for the Chief Brand Officer
Lead the Kotn Creative Team on development / approval of campaign narratives and execution in appropriate channels
Manage a team of Art Directors, Designers, Content Creators and Producers to develop high quality, high impact content across website, retail and marketing
Help to develop a creative process that cultivates a culture of innovative, creative ideas while also prioritizing effectiveness and efficiency in execution
Strong ability to provide clear creative direction, and timely/helpful feedback to improve final execution and creative processes to keep work on budget and schedule.
Help create innovative campaigns that elevate the brand in the fashion space
Ideate, establish, and reinforce consistent brand messaging and visual systems across all customer communications
Oversee the commission of original artwork with freelancers (including photography, illustrations, typography, icons, and animations) within budgets.
Communicate effectively to art and visual teams and clearly articulate workflow needs with the proper advanced timing to anticipate needs.
Collaborate with marketing, merchandising, design, retail, web teams to ensure the highest level of brand execution across all platforms.
