Maryam Nassir Zadeh's Track & Field / SS18
Maryam Nassir Zadeh is one of those designers who choose not to go the minimally elegant route of an atypical runway venue. From the past few seasons we've seen what she can do on a more artistic scale from an intimate dinner turned food fight to a small scale show at The Guggenheim Museum. For this season she took it to the tracks, specifically at the East River Park Track in Manhattan. Zadeh chose this location, because running as a sport has been her form of meditation the last few years. Instead of buying out the park venue, she and her team went renegade and orchestrated a seemingly spontaneous runway show. Bring in the models, sprinkle in the editors and include a surprise musical performance by Solange. Easy peasy. Passerby's looked on and most likely appreciated the surreal occasion that was happening before them. As it was all part of Zadeh's plan to not only present a colorful array of semi-sporty / 50's inspired vivaciousness, but to prove that life's unpredictability - can be beautiful.
