Sunday Aesthetics: The Importance of the Sunday Reset
If you search for Sunday reset on TikTok and unaware of this viral content trend, then you’d be seeing a lot of cleaning videos. A Sunday reset is a part of the Sunday Aesthetics, the do-over part. A way of avoiding the Sunday Scaries, you mentally recharge and physically reset your surroundings to enhance your Monday morning.
There is no proper reset, but normally it does involve cleaning and some restocking and rearranging. Why is a reset an important part of the week? Because it’s good to take stock of what you accomplished in the past week or come up with a new plan to pick up the pace on tasks that needed to be done but you couldn’t get around to. Everyone experiences chaos. If we allow ourselves that one day of the week to heal by being overly productive with small to big chores, in the real world they call that “elbow grease” and so if you put in the time, you’re opening up space for what’s to come.
It’s also called adulting and while the phrase doesn’t come with a manual guide (yet, I guess we’re waiting on a new modern edition?), being an adult means performing administrative tasks. Paying bills, washing linens, restocking the fridge, mopping all floors and mirrors, basically becoming your mother (kidding). Adulting is a privilege and a Sunday reset can be an integral act of self-care. It’s nice to come home to a peaceful, clean, tidy space, that’s what you owe to yourself after a long day. By resetting your surroundings, you can give yourself more time to focus on your life and work.
Settling into your Sunday night feels amazing knowing that last week was the past and that a new week awaits with positive possibilities.
