Mejuri is a direct-to-consumer approach to buying jewellery for the modern woman. We are about making luxury a habit – disrupting the traditional jewellery industry to make fine jewellery affordable and empowering women to purchase for themselves.

As part of Mejuri’s in-house Creative team, the role of Photo Art Director is responsible for Mejuri’s visual content creation of assets for e-Commerce photography and video, to lifestyle and marketing campaigns. You lead with excellence and consistency of execution in mind, focusing on styling and photo direction from brief to final execution in partnership with the design team. The ideal candidate is a taste-maker with a sharp eye for photography, styling, and a deep knowledge of key players in the industry.

The Photo Art Director owns the creative process from concept thru to execution, collaborating with your internal and external creative peers - designers, photographers, producers, stylists, and retouchers - and cross-functional peers in Merchandising, Marketing, and Product. Your goal is to ensure class A execution.

You are conceptual, strategic, passionate, and connected to the creative industry. You excel at sharing and selling ideas, and encourage internal and external people to follow your lead in order to ensure the highest standards and brand relevance.

This role reports to the Creative Director and will work closely with creative leadership, Brand Marketing, Content, Video/Photo production teams, Merchandising, Product, and external agencies.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Fine Arts or related field

  • 6-8 years relevant experienceFashion experience a must

  • Proven experience in this or a similar role

  • Strong understanding of the creative process

  • Solid understanding of production and best practices in photography + video

  • Proficient in relevant tools: Photoshop, Illustrator, Indesign, Premiere, Webflow, and After Effects

  • Ability to use insight of the internal and external business environment to improve and drive performance

  • Ability to identify any potential barriers that may impact the customer experience

  • Exchange information for mutually beneficial goals; gain respect and commitment from team members and proactively keep internal relationships active

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create outstanding photography and video direction, styling, and design direction

  • Lead the quality of creative work by inspiring excellence, providing direction and constructive feedback

  • Partner with copywriters, designers, and cross-functional teams to develop project plans and ensure projects are progressing and that creative is delivered on timeIncorporate and translate feedback from Creative Leaders and teammates into clear and inspiring guidance to develop the best work

  • Iterate and communicate ideas across teams (moodboards, concept statements, design exploration, art direction boards, styling, presentation, etc)Work with creative leadership to establish, implement and continuously update photography brand guidelines

  • Conceptualize creative solutions that address marketing and business objectives

  • Research new ideas, stay on top of new channels and trendsAssess creative work to ensure ideas are as powerful in reality as they are in concept
