2021 has brought plenty of ups and downs (mostly downs, to be quite frank), but if thereโs one thing we can thank 2021 for, itโs for gracing us with the cottagecore aesthetic. As much as we love basking in the woodland fairy vibes of our timelines, itโs important to diversify the cottagecore aesthetic. Today, weโre spotlighting some of our favorite black cottagecore creators on Instagram.
A self-described โplus size feminine fairy,โ April is a creator bringing some much-needed body positivity to the cottagecore trend. A quick scroll through her Instagram feed will show her reading novels in a meadow while wearing the prairie dress of our dreams, or twirling around to show off her pastel get-ups.
Recently profiled on Goop (where she eloquently shared what she learned from a year of celibacy), 21-year old Dronme Davis is a model, painter, activist, and cottagecore muse for those of us who wish to be half as cool as her. With over 30,000 followers, she uses her Instagram as a platform to spread awareness of social justice issues and body positivity โ all while stunting in frilly gingham numbers.
A rising singer-songwriter from Germany, Nadiiife (real name: Nadine) also happens to perfectly encapsulate the cottagecore aesthetic in her sepia-toned Instagram feed. One glance at her feed and you might think sheโs a real woodland princess, and one listen to her newest EP Head in the Clouds will have you dreaming of pixies, nymphs, and pressed flowers.
Based in London, Dazhanรฉ Leah is a blogger and photographer who balances cottagecore style with her natural Brit flair. From puff-sleeved dresses and picnics in lush fields to plaid co-ords for a stroll around the city, Dazhanรฉโs feed is so pleasing that it could be easily mistaken for a curated vision board.
Karina is a Bristol-based fashion blogger whose site, The Style Idealist, ranges from daily style inspiration posts to her own self-discovery journey. Always on trend with the seasons, Karinaโs current aesthetic is best described as cottagecore with a taste for the dramatic; ideal for any city folk who want to pull off dressing like a quaint fairy amid the hustle and bustle of the city.
