5 New York Vloggers To Subscribe To
New York, the city that never stops vlogging. Tree lined streets, the magical change of seasons, city parks, bakeries, boroughs, fire escapes, the skyline, there’s good material everywhere you turn. These vloggers have a few things in common - they’re not afraid of showing a real side, an honest moment of what it’s like to live in one of the busiest cities in the world and they value quality over quantity.
We didn’t want to feature the atypical vlogger who follows a formula for getting clicks. Instead we chose to spotlight vloggers who depict their lives as real as they want to show us, they create thoughtful content, often times we can learn something from them and we do always try to find something relatable.
The secret to a good life is sustainability and women like Jenny from Wear I Live understands and implements it in her life. I’ve watched Jenny’s channel for a few years now, having followed her college days living with roommates to now being on her own. Throughout the years she has taught me the value of being more sustainable with clothing, skincare and just living a low-impact life. In her channel you’ll find a lot of self-discovery, skincare GRWM’s, self-care, lots of thrift and healthy plant-based meals.
Michelle Choi, the California girl who moved to South Korea, now based in New York City. She’s another one that I’ve watched through the years since she was studying in Seoul and then making the big move to New York. Her signature content is the Living Alone Diaries, an inside view of her day to night routines featuring her adorable pup Dobby. When Michelle moved to New York, she was pretty transparent about how she could afford to live there, a topic that most vloggers find taboo to talk about. Michelle brings up topics that make you uncomfortable, such as mental health, and thankful that she does since we all relate to that.
Even though she’s a British girl living in New York, Karen Blanchard is very New York to me. She has been since her early blogging days, Karen always drew me in with her vintage finds. Although she is better known for her popular blog Where Did U Get That that was started in 2009, she actually began YouTube in 2008, way before the influx of fashion bloggers turned vloggers. Whether you’ve followed her for years, what you really need to know about Karen is her true love of fashion. And when Karen vlogs her thrift shopping trips, it feels like you’re right there with her.
Another value to her channel are her spotlights and interviews of what New Yorkers are wearing. Even with pandemic, I hope she can find a safe way to keep doing those videos, because it’s what a college girl in Omaha, Nebraska whose plans are to enroll in F.I.T. want to watch.
Liah Yoo is a South Korean beauty influencer, vlogger and CEO of her skincare brand KraveBeauty. Her channel aims to teach us about good, clean skincare, promote self-care and show what it’s like to run a skincare start-up. She runs KraveBeauty and her YouTube channel from New York and Seoul. Liah loves talking about different skincare brands, reviewing them, weeding out the pro and con ingredients in popular brands and more importantly encouraging us to take better care of ourselves, mentally, sustainably and physically.
Born and raised in the Caribbean, Rose juggles vlogging, photography and a proper day job as a paralegal. Once upon a time she thought of becoming a lawyer, but realized that her undying love for fashion, photography, home decor and food would get in the way. Soon enough she went on learn photography and began a YouTube channel focusing on all the things she loved from fashion, beauty, decor, travel and cooking.
