Product Review: APHA.LAB Deodorant

How do you know when you’ve found “the one”? You just know. In the case of finding the right deodorant, I have found the one, my skincare soulmate if you will. Although it wasn’t love at first try, but with good reason. At the time I was suffering from an underarm rash (both arms) courtesy of what I refer to as my bad breakup deodorant (for now will remain nameless, that review is coming soon). As soon as the rash had calmed down and for the most part disappeared, I began using APHA.LAB Cactus & Clay deodorant and to my delight by the third day, I was head over heels in love.

APHA.LAB DEODORANT in cactus & clay

☆☆☆☆☆

Focused on natural ingredients and ethically derived, Australian brand APHA.LAB launched in May 2019 by Mariana Raltcheva who was inspired to offer a mindful alternative to other commercial deodorants. Coming right off of a skin rash from my ex-deodorant, I was a tad fearful of applying it the first time. Yet, the Cactus & Clay formula was easy and soothing to apply with its cool essence and smooth, cream texture (don’t worry, it’s very light). It does at first feel wet, but I suppose that’s to be expected since it’s a roll-on application. It glides on easily, and just one swipe for the entire day works for me.

Formulated for sensitive skin (that’s me!) with no powerful scent, except for the hint of a cool, clean breeze, the kind you appreciate on a hot day. Since day one Cactus & Clay has kept me feeling refreshed from 8am up the point of bedtime. I don’t have to think about sweating during the day, no spot checks and hallelujah, no more rash. The ingredients list is simple and short, that’s how you know it’s an actual natural product. The best part is that it doesn’t contain baking soda, which for majority of people is actually too harsh and can irritate the skin.

FAVORITE INGREDIENTS:

Kaolin Clay, a mineral that’s used to absorb sweat and gently remove impurities.

Bisabol (Bisabolol), a thick oily liquid mainly of chamomile essential oil, which works great for razor burns. If you put your nose right to the roll-on tip, can smell a subtle flowery aroma.

Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, which is Aloe Vera, everyone’s favorite plant leaf used to soothe and repair skin ailments.

Also cucumber juice for the cooling factor, rose geranium, organic ylang ylang and bergamot oil.
