The Met is Hiring a Graphic Designer, Retail (NYC)

The Metropolitan Museum of Art collects, studies, conserves, and presents significant works of art across all times and cultures in order to connect people to creativity, knowledge, and ideas.

The Graphic Designer will assist in the design, layout, and production of graphics for the Met Retail Design department. They will report into the Senior Graphic Designer and collaborate with Web and Store Staff, Visual Merchandising and Product Design teams. The Graphic Designer will hold a wide range of duties including e-mail design, photo retouching and preparation, and layout of online assets, store signage and the design of product packaging. This individual will collaborate with team members to push creative boundaries to improve presentation and drive revenue growth.

REQUIREMENTS

Experience and Skills:

  • Two or more years of experience in digital graphic design for retail organizations

  • Experience working with commercial and cultural clients

  • Two or more years Proficiency in Adobe In-Design, Photoshop, Illustrator

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Expertise in HTML5 and CSS

  • Experience in scaled drawing (floorplan/elevation) is a plus

  • Working knowledge of other Adobe CS programs (such as Premier, Aftereffect, XD) is a plus

  • Results and detail-oriented with excellent initiative, execution and follow-through

  • Ability to work well under pressure, handle multiple projects simultaneously, and meet deadlines both independently and collaboratively

Knowledge and Education:

  • BFA in Graphic Design required

  • Knowledge of Art History preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with other teams to deliver a visually compelling in-store signage and product packaging, following brand standards

  • Support the design and development of homepages, category layouts, emails, site banners, social media, and more

  • Photo retouching, preparation and file management

  • Organize, and manage multiple projects concurrently to meet deadlines

  • Other duties as assigned
